AUTUMN MATHS

Match, Sort and Compare

Providing children with a wide range of the same objects allows them to explore sorting and matching at a deeper level.

Think about the colour, size, shape and texture of objects to support children’s language development and descriptions.

Counting, Cardinality and Ordinality

Count objects (to 5) around the house and garden ...on a walk ....

-use a wooden spoon as a counting wand to ensure careful counting.

Remember – that the last number we say is how many we have altogether, that we count each item once, that moving items is a good way to count carefully, and that we can count things that can’t be touched.

Make collections of 2/3/4 items . can they make a collection of 'not' these numbers to.
